Alim the Mad

Alim the Mad is a sahir (sorceror) from Araby.  He came to know of The Onyx City when one of the curious artifacts found by Ingolf Thorstein’s early expeditions made its way to a bazaar in Constantinople and caught his eye.  He followed the story backwards and ended up joining Ingolf on his fourth expedition to Thule.

Alim has taken up “residence” in Trade Town by conjuring a tower on a hillock overlooking the rest of Trade Town.  He seems to come and go quietly, although no one knows how, and when he returns he has rare imported treats that go on sale in the the marketplace outside Norsemen’s Rest.  He has a number of assistants who arrived by ship and aid him, interfacing with the inhabitants of Trade Town and studying the artifacts that he pays handsomely for.

No one knows the true extent of Alim’s powers.
