Runes

Norse runes were the alphabetical characters used by Germanic peoples, especially in Scandinavia, from around the 1st century AD through the Middle Ages.  Beyond mere letters, each rune also possessed symbolic meanings and esoteric significance, often associated with concepts, deities, and magical properties, with their knowledge traditionally attributed to Odin.
