Sure, these would be cool with spells or “arcane lore” only, but imagine if it had other sorts of knowledge in them (even just stuff like mundane things, like lists of cargo (perhaps from sunken vessels or lost shipments that could be found in an adventure), locations of different places, maps, etc.)
