Restless, your humble Dungeon Master

About me

I’m a middle-aged, widowed computer nerd who hasn’t gamed since the early 1990s except for a couple sessions here and there.  I am trying to get back in the swing of things.  I was the forever DM when I was younger and I’d love to be DMing again for that creative outlet.

My game of choice is old-school D&D.  We used to play a mish-mash of Red Box B/X and AD&D 1e, but once I started college in the late eighties and AD&D 2e began hitting its stride I was already moving out of gaming in favor of school.  I ran a game for a while through the summer of 1992 and after that I just left the hobby.

Now I’m back after I ran across this article late one night in 2007 while browsing Slashdot in the summer of 2007.  I couldn’t believe there was a fourth edition coming – I didn’t even know there had been a third!  It broke my brain… I wondered if anybody even remembered the stuff we used to play, so I began to investigate and found a whole old-school movement.

This whole time I’ve meant to start a game but never got my act together.  Now, after years of thinking about it it’s finally coming to fruition.

Influences

I have a personal appendix N that may give you an idea of the sorts of fantasy and gaming I like and may be reflected in what you see at the table.

I have put together my personal DM merit badges that reflect my DMing style.
